Impressionists of the nineteenth century sought to capture the fast-changing effects of light in all of their paintings. As a contemporary American Impressionist DJ Kiggins does this in all of her paintings encompassing water. She is less concerned with the subject while being more attentive to the effects of the light displayed during the varying times of the day or time of the year. She captures the colors she sees calculating the values and atmosphere and adds her own impression of the many fleeting moods of the water and the environment it reflects.
